In 2008, to commemorate the University's 50th Convocation, the alumni of Rockefeller endowed the Detlev Bronk Fund for Student Life as an expression of gratitude for the outstanding scientific training that they received and to honor the legacy of Detlev Bronk, the University's first president. Alumni continue to support excellence in research and education at Rockefeller through The Rockefeller University Alumni Fund.
